Technical translation is a science we understand

Technical translation is not just about translating words – it’s about understanding the essence and how a given thing or process works.

Every manual, drawing or documentation requires an accurate, comprehensible and professionally correct translation. Precision is not a choice, but a must.

Thanks to the fact that we work with more than 800 professional translators, we can always choose one who is well versed in your field and knows its terminology like the back of their hand. Actually, even more than that. They know it like the back of their hand and are also well versed in craftsmanship, manufacturing techniques, materials engineering…

Technical translation is, in short, a specific discipline. We have already translated thousands of texts for farmers, mechanical engineers, electricians, arms manufacturers and other technical professions. There are no limits to our field expertise, and there is no extra charge for specialised translations.

What makes these translations specific?

Unlike, for example, marketing translations, texts in technical translations often repeat. For instance, from 2005 to 2023 we translated and proofread 9 million words for engineers from the Engineering Test Institute. That is, in total, over 4,400 jobs in 34 languages. In addition, thanks to our long-term cooperation and the discounts on repeated text, the Engineering Test Institute has saved circa 25% in costs, or several million Czech crowns. “The degree of repetitiveness is quite high in technical texts and safety data sheets,” our project managers confirm.

High-quality input data is simply essential

If you decide to choose us as a partner for your specialised translation, we will ask you to provide us with any available source and reference materials, such as existing translations, monolingual reference materials, existing in-house terminology, etc. For example, when translating machinery documentation, it is very important to know the context.

We automatically and for free create a translation memory and a glossary for you during the first translation. With these resources, the terminology of all your translations will be coordinated, and each future translation will be consistent with the previous ones.

A good helper is the CAT tool – you’ve probably heard of it from us. For example, it has reduced translation costs for a Czech leading energy provider by 10%!

This was a translation of their annual reports, which contain identical passages each year. “Their 2017 annual report had 99,110 words. We billed them for 85,449 words, and the savings on repeating text amounted to 14%. In 2018, their annual report had 101,435 words, we billed for 83,952, and the savings on repetitions were 18%,” says Václav Baláček, the co-owner of our translation agency. Let us add that for 100,107 words in the 2019 report, we billed for 75,333 words, and the savings reached 25%! And that is definitely worth it.

A friendly approach, the speed and quality of service – these are the three main reasons clients choose to work with us and then often remain loyal customers. This became apparent in an analysis we had done some time ago on the basis of feedback from our customers. Don’t worry that we won’t be able to provide a quality translation of your operations manual, manufacturing process or technical study. We always work with translators who have the technique down to a science.

Got a technical question? We’re here for you.
