Express delivery translation of 81 legal files in 3 days

Let’s start from the beginning. On Wednesday at noon we received the following inquiry: “We need the translations of 27 sets of texts, approximately 292 standard pages, in three copies. So altogether, there should be 81 sets of texts, about 876 standard pages in total. Unfortunately, we need it pretty quickly…”
After a short consultation with the client, we agreed that we would deliver our translations by Monday at noon, so we had less than 3 working days to complete the translation, whereas the standard delivery time for a project of a similar size is 30 working days.
Day by day, we mapped out how the work on such an extremely demanding assignment would go:
Wednesday
After the complete specification of the job, the client places a purchase order at 4:24PM. We then start the conversion of the submitted PDFs so that we have files to edit. This process takes a couple of hours. At the same time, we are selecting suitable translators and assembling a team.
Thursday
Early in the morning the team is ready and we distribute the formatted texts for translation. We are simultaneously setting up a glossary, which helps us keep the terminology consistent and guarantees the integrity of the translation.
Friday to Sunday
The project manager and the translation team leader coordinate the translation process. The translations are under strict monitoring at every stage. Everyone understands their role. The terminology is consulted across the team, the style is unified… everything runs like clockwork. The final linguistic quality check takes place on Sunday around midnight.
Monday
Printers and scanners have been running at full blast since early morning. Three people sort, print, scan and bind the text sets. Shortly after noon, our client picks up 81 sets of translations.
The client is happy, and we can now say “job well done”. If we were ever to use the phrase “the impossible we do immediately, miracles take a little longer”, it would probably be today.
