Cost-free translation of 140,070 words
for a technical e-shop

ThermVisia, an exclusive distributor of innovative technologies in the field of thermal imaging and night vision devices, contacted us with a request to translate their e-shop from Czech to Slovak.

The e-shop operates on the Shoptet platform, which was favourable news for us as a Shoptet silver partner. We know the platform inside out, and we have dozens of happy Shoptet clients.

The assignment was clear: the exclusive distributor of the Hikmicro, ThermTec, TenoSight, TenoTrail, Senopex and Mepro brands, which produce thermal imaging and night vision devices, wanted to create an e-shop for its Slovak customers based on the Czech template. It was a translation of the content of the Czech e-shop, based on the Shoptet platform, into Slovak.

With our instructions, exporting data is easy

Jobs such as this are among the larger ones. So we assigned a salesperson to help the new client find a solution that would be fast, efficient and cost-effective. She went over the details with the client, and together they agreed on how the texts would be delivered so we could prepare an quote.

Thanks to the video tutorial we had created ourselves as a Shoptet Silver Partner, the client exported the content without any problems. He sent us approximately 750 standard pages of text in .csv format for translation, which corresponds to just under 188,000 words. After familiarising ourselves with the text, we found that about 560 standard pages were repeated, leaving about 191 pages purely for translation. The repetitive text yielded 140,070 words for the client free of charge. That’s a nice number, isn’t it?

Sample translation before the start of collaboration

We created a short sample translation (up to 500 words) for the client with proofreading by a native speaker, which we do automatically and free of charge for new clients and large jobs. The client imported the test translation into Shoptet to see if he was satisfied with its quality and if everything was technically correct. It was.

As ThermVisia is also represented in Slovakia, they decided not to use the final proofreading of all the translated texts by a native speaker that we offered. We agreed on this at the very beginning of our collaboration.

Processing exactly according to schedule

The deadline for the translation was set at 20 working days from the confirmation of the job. On the agreed date we delivered all the translated documents to the client in the same format as the source texts, i.e. .docx and .csv.

Our project manager Laura, who is a native Slovak, supervised the job during the implementation. She set up a translation memory and a glossary for the new client, so that all of our further cooperation would be linguistically consistent, and she also covered the final internal QA check: after importing the translations into Shoptet, she did a final check of the website to make sure that everything was in order on our side.

Laura evaluates the whole process as follows:

“Our communication went smoothly; first, we clarified which texts we would translate and in which format, then we completed a short test translation for the client, which we received positive feedback on, and then we translated the required content of the website.”

The e-shop is now fully operational for Slovak customers. ThermVisia’s domain is night vision, and you can see in this collaboration how much time and money a proper translation setup can save you.

Kateřina Brátová, Product Manager of ThermVisia s.r.o.

“What convinced us to choose České překlady was their command of technical terminology and their partnership with Shoptet. Thanks to their clear guidance, responsive communication, and skilled technical support, the data export and new language integration on our e-shop went off without a hitch. That strong start laid the groundwork for our ongoing cooperation – we now also rely on them for translations of other technical materials.”
